Solitude is open for winter!
For the second year in a row, Solitude was the first Utah resort to open for the winter season. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us during opening weekend. We had a blast “linking turns” with you, and we know you did too.
We are now a couple weeks into the season and Moonbeam Express, Link, and the Magic Carpet are currently spinning. Our snow guns are in full effect as we push hard to open more lifts and terrain as soon as conditions allow.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we’d love to see you on the mountain enjoying our Thanksgiving Turkey Scavenger Hunt. Or join us at St. Bernard’s for Thanksgiving dinner. Seats are filling fast, so book soon!
In case you didn’t hear the news, Solitude was ranked the number 8 ski resort in the west in Ski magazine’s 2025 Reader Survey Awards. Another warm thank you goes out to our guests. An accolade like this could only happen with the incredible support and love of those who ski and ride Solitude.
TRACTION LAW IN EFFECT
A farmer in Vermont once told me, “if you change your shoes in winter, you should probably change your tires.” That’s indispensable advice this season as increased enforcement of traction law takes place in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
When storms roll into the area this winter, you can expect traffic checkpoints at the mouth or even at the top of the canyon. Check out UDOTs traction law page to understand what type of tires or other traction devices are required for your vehicle. To make your checkpoint experience a breeze, participate in the UDOT Cottonwood Canyons sticker program. This free program puts a sticker on your windshield to signal to law enforcement that your vehicle is equipped for the drive, making the line move faster for you and everyone else. We’d rather have you playing in the snow than waiting in traffic, so grab that free sticker!
