Summer has fully arrived — and it’s glorious at Solitude! Most of the snow has melted and the wildflowers are starting to bloom. Solitude Bike Park is now open daily and the trails are riding great.

Employee Spotlight

To bring you year-round fun, Solitude depends on the hard work of our employees. Solitude is honored to have team members receive special recognition this month in local awards.

Matt SernaChef, The Yurt at Solitude

Our talented Yurt chef recently received a Yeti Award from Ski Utah for Back of House, Best in Service. The Yurt is one of Utah’s signature dining experiences. Guests snowshoe through the forest and then relax in the comfort of our cozy mountain yurt for unforgettable five-course meal prepped by Matt. Find out what the hype is about and experience Matt’s cooking for yourself.

Ana Avita – Housekeeping Manager, Solitude Resort Lodging

Ana leads a team of eight, providing immaculate accommodations to guests visiting Solitude. She recently received a Salt Award from Visit Salt Lake for her excellent work in the hospitality industry. Ana is well known at the resort not just for her diligent work and leadership, but for her pozole. Spice up your own summer with a mountain getaway at Solitude.

SECI Day at Solitude

Solitude held its annual in-service safety day on June 3. Known as SECI Day (the acronym stands for “Safety, Engagement, and Continuous Improvement”), employees gathered for a day of relationship building, interdepartmental sharing, and safety themed training. Incidentally, it was a great year for employee safety at Solitude, with OSHA reportable incidents down by about 50%.

Community Events

Solitude was proud to be a sponsor of the Utah Asian Festival on June 6, and also a participant in the Utah Pride Festival that same weekend. For the Pride Festival, Solitude once again teamed up with Brighton Resort to pilot a festive snowcat in the parade, a fun way to show our support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Daily Mountain Biking at Solitude

Solitude Bike Park is the place to be for mountain biking this summer.

Lift-served mountain biking starts at 10:00 a.m. daily and runs until 6:00 p.m. all nights except Tuesday and Thursday when we stay open until 8:00 p.m. for Twilight Nights.

Solitude will also be hosting two major mountain bike events this summer: the Mountain States Cup, July 4 through 5, and the Pro Downhill Series, July 15 through 19.

Get the most out of mountain biking this summer with the Wasatch Gravity Pass. This pass snags you unlimited mountain biking at both Solitude and Deer Valley (just a short 20 minutes away from Solitude).

See you on the trails!
