Is it February already? This season has been moving fast with so much happening at Solitude. We’ve received 425 inches of snow so far this winter and we just heard that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, meaning there is plenty more winter ahead. We are planning on skiing well into the spring up here!

Besides great snow, Solitude has some great retail you should know about. Our two Canyon Fever stores — one in Solitude Village and the other in Moonbeam Lodge — are your go-to spots for essential ski gear, logo wear, gifts, souvenirs, and unique Utah products.

Let’s talk about ski gear first. We’ve had lots of stormy days this winter but also plenty of sunshine and days where we see mixed conditions. Having a clear view of the terrain is key while skiing and riding, so we stock plenty of high-quality goggles to keep you moving no matter what the weather is doing. One of our most popular models is the Smith Frontier which offers the ability to swap lenses — perfect for those variable days.

To stay safe on the slopes (and keep your ears warm) you also need a good helmet, and we have plenty to choose from. This includes Mips-equipped helmets which provide extra protection in case of a hard fall or impact. Helmets are available in wide variety of sizes and colors, including my daughter’s favorite, hot pink.

No one likes cold fingers while out on the slopes, so we’ve got plenty of gloves and mittens for you. Our Dakine gloves lined with Gore-Tex are best-sellers and a great choice for cold days. We also carry ski pants, bibs, socks, hats, face warmers, and jackets – everything you need to dress yourself or your kids for adventure on the slopes.

Beyond ski gear, we’ve got some great t-shirts and hoodies, including our popular Powder to the People hoodie which you see our lift operators wearing. And even if you aren’t here for our pond skim in April, you can’t go wrong with one of our Solitude Aloha shirts!

Besides clothing, our Canyon Fever stores carry pottery, drinkware, and glassware – offering plenty of great gift and souvenir options. Grab a water bottle or check out our Solitude-branded mugs, pint glasses, and wine glasses. Take home some après ski memories with a Thirsty Squirrel shot glass. Canyon Fever is also your top spot for Solitude-themed stickers, magnets, patches, and trail signs.

Another retail location to know about is the Village Store, located on the first floor of the Inn at Solitude. This is a general store where you can find food, drinks, and a small selection of drugstore items. If you are looking for a carton of milk, a loaf of bread, or a bottle of Advil, this is your place. In addition to essentials, the store includes unique Utah products like Pioneer Valley syrup, Z’s Black Label Hot Sauce, and Rocky Mountain Margarita Mix. Since Utah is the Beehive State, we’ve also made sure to stock local honey and beeswax candles. Kids love our fun selection of candy, including locally made caramels and lollipops.

The Village Store is also the only liquor store in Big Cottonwood Canyon. We sell beer, wine, liquor, seltzers, and even champagne. Alcohol sales are not available on Sundays and holidays.

Beyond our retail offerings, we’re looking at a fun February here at Solitude! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and we have an awesome dinner and spa special happening. Then we jump right into President’s Week. On Saturday, February 18th we’ll be hosting a torchlight parade and fireworks show – our third of the season. Well also be having an Alphorn Concert, Magic Show, and family buffet dinner. Check out the events calendar for our full schedule and additional information.

Our 100th day of the season is on Friday, February 17. Get here early to enjoy our 8:00 a.m. lifts as well as free donuts and tunes from our DJ. Thanks for reading and talk to you again in a couple weeks!
