We’ve been having a fun-filled February at Solitude, with multiple storms dropping off double digit snowfall. Coverage is great, the sun is out, and we currently have all our terrain open except for Fantasy Ridge. Now is a great time to improve your skills through the Solitude Ski & Ride School.
Solitude Ski & Ride School clinics and programs
Looking to enjoy all that Solitude has to offer? Consider taking a clinic or lesson through the Solitude Ski & Ride School. In addition to standard group and private lessons, we have several new programs for those looking to specialize or seeking something different.
New this season, our skills clinics are a great way to improve your abilities in diverse terrain. Get more from the groomers by learning to carve. Make the moguls your friend not your foe. Drop the steeps with improved confidence. Or learn to catch air in the park.
Female skiers and riders, we have extended our popular Women on Wednesdays program to include single day, Women on Weekends sessions. Build friendships while you explore the mountain with other women. Our skilled female coaches guide the way.
And we’ve got a great new offering for little ones this season: half day lessons for kids ages 3-4. Let’s face it, a full day can be too much for some children. Our half day session is just what some kids need to build confidence, develop skills, and fall in love with the snow.
Race Team and Big Mountain Team
You may have seen them on the mountain, wearing their Solitude jackets while arcing through gates or dropping cliffs near the top of Summit. The ones speeding through gates are members of the Solitude Race Team, while those shredding extreme terrain are members of the Solitude Freeride Team. Both programs are part of Team Solitude, an advanced division of the Solitude Ski & Ride School.
We are endlessly impressed by our young athletes, as well as the community of coaches and parents who support them. When not training here on the mountain, Team Solitude athletes can be found competing at other mountains and receiving accolades on the podium. To see some of our skiers and riders in action, make sure to check out the big mountain competition taking place in Wanderer Bowl (the terrain skier’s left of the Powderhorn lift), March 6-8.
Upcoming Events
Looking for new way to enjoy the mountains as well as some peace of mind? Check out Snow & Flow at the Solitude Nordic & Snowshoe Center on March 1. This event features a one-hour snowshoe tour, followed by a one-hour yoga class. Your body and mind will thank you!
And just around the corner is International Women’s Day. Once again, we will be hosting Ladies Laps with the North Face. Solitude has an incredible community of women including staff and guests. Join us for a fun-filled ski-around, followed by film screenings and après.
UDOT Cottonwood Canyons Sticker
We’ve had some great storm days this season and more are on the way! Please get a free UDOT Cottonwood Canyons Sticker for your vehicle if you haven’t gotten one yet. Traffic checkpoints are in effect on storm days this season — the UDOT sticker shows checkpoint officers that your vehicle has proper traction and gets you waved through the line. Don’t slow the flow on powder days — get your free UDOT sticker and help everyone spend more time on the hill and less time in traffic.
Thanks for learning more about the Solitude Ski & Ride School and upcoming events. See you in a couple weeks for another update!
