Solitude is open! Warm temperatures made for a challenging fall, but lifts are now spinning at Solitude. Link and Moonbeam Express are now open daily with additional lifts and terrain just around the corner.

Snow Guns are Firing

Temperatures have dropped along with humidity levels making for good snowmaking conditions. With a limited water supply, Solitude strives to make snow when conditions are at their best. If the mercury is marginal, it may not be worth making snow on particular day, especially when colder temperatures are in the forecast. As temperatures continue to fall, we are making snow at every opportunity — and welcoming the winter storm clouds as well.

Our new snowmaking pipeline is now in full effect, bypassing Big Cottonwood Creek to bring clean water directly from Twin Lakes Reservoir to our snowmaking system. This will greatly improve the reliability of our system going forward. Although Mother Nature has not pulled her weight this season, our mountain ops crew has. A big shout out goes to our snowmaking and grooming teams who have navigated the balmy November weather to get you skiing and riding by Thanksgiving.

Ski Mountaineering World Cup

Solitude kicks off December with several exciting events.

Join us December 5 – 7 for the International Ski Mountaineering Federation World Cup. This is the first “SkiMo” World Cup in the United States, and the final qualifier before ski mountaineering makes its Olympic debut at Milano Cortina in February. The U.S. team is currently vying for a spot in the upcoming games, so come cheer on the athletes — including Utah locals.

Races take place on the lower face of Main Street. All events are free to spectate. Park in the Moonbeam base area and take the shuttle up.

Official Utah Mammoth Watch Party

Hockey comes to Solitude! Join us at the Thirsty Squirrel on Saturday, December 6 to watch the Utah Mammoth take on the Calgary Flames. Solitude is proud to be an inaugural partner of the Utah Mammoth, and we’ll be giving away both Solitude and Mammoth swag during the event. Prizes include a limited number of tickets to future games.

Kids Ski Free Week

Children 12 and under ski free at Alterra resorts from December 6 though 12. Limited terrain is perfect for beginners learning how to make their first turns. Book your free tickets online and check out our great deals on lessons, rentals, food, and lodging.

More Terrain on the Way

Winter storms are taking shape and snow guns are firing. See you again in a couple weeks with updated info on lifts and terrain.
